I received an invitation from the wonderful Amustela to perform in her Merry Month of May show! I was delighted, and decided to craft a choreography for a song I've been obsessed with for two months now - Mahraganat Bent el Gheran by Hassan Shakosh and Omar Kamal! I've been fortunate enough to not only craft the choreography and perform it myself, but also teach it to students in North Carolina and online throughout the world this summer. I will get to share the stage with students tomorrow night at Beer & Belly Dance in Cary, NC. Want to learn this choreography yourself? You can stream the workshop online! Thank you for watching everyone! I hope you enjoy 💜 It was so great to get back to live performances after nearly two years of living in a world of Covid.
Thank you to Aladdin's for having me, and for my friend Yara Sultan for inviting me! Whoop whoop! I'm so excited to be back dancing with you all!
I'm partnering with a lovely community organizer and public health official in Triangle area to bring you this community belly dance class on Saturday, September 25! This is a class for all levels and all ages. We will be moving through the basics and grooving to some of the hottest Egyptian tunes. I'd love to see you -- bring a friend and come join the fun!
Here's my performance from Amustela's virtual show, Cure the Winter Blues! I hope you enjoy and dance along with me :) - the song is that fun!
Song: Chic Chac Choc (also known as Shik Shak Shok)
This version is from Suhaila Salimpour's Beyond Byblos album
Did you hear??
I was interviewed by Asmara Bellydance Intiative, a nonprofit organization that facilitates and funds events celebrating belly dancers from the diaspora. It was so great speaking with Sabia, and sharing how my views and perspectives on current issues in the belly dance community, and sharing how my dance education degree is shaping my ideas and thoughts on the art form. Give it a watch and let me know what you think! I'd love to be in discussion with you about what you hear <3 |
